Barberton is a historical town which has its origin in the 1880s gold rush in the region.It is situated in the De Kaap Valley and is fringed by the Makhonjwa Mountains. You find it 43 kilometers south of Nelspruit
A daytrip to the Panorama Route is doable from Marloth Park.
This route in Mpumalanga is well known for its cultural heritage as well as its dramatic scenery.
The Panorama route is home to the Blyde River canyon which is the third
largest canyon in the world and the largest green canyon in the world.
It is situated at the Northern end of the Drakensbergen and offers phenomenal views
over the Klein Drakensberg. The Blyde River canyon is situated in a National
Reserve and as such is unspoilt by development and is home to an abundance of wildlife.
You find a choice of viewing points with panoramic views across the Lowveld and more breathtaking views of the lush forested ravine 900m below.
Another lovely stop is Burkes Potholes.This is one of the famous viewingpoints and a great place for you to stretch your legs.
Over centuries the river water has eroded the rocks to form perfectly smooth potholes and strange sculptures.
Lebombo, the borderpost to Mozambique, is a half hour drive.
Maputo is the Capitol of Mozambique,
Mozambique is wellknown for it beautiful beaches, from the borderpost it will take you about a hour to reach the beach
You need a visum to enter Mozambique wich can be purchased at the borderpost.
Swaziland is only a hour drive from Marlothpark, you can go on your own or with a tourguide, who will tell you all about this wonderful country.
To visit a traditional village is a lovely experience and gives you insight of tribal life in Swaziland.
The Ngwenya Glassfactory and the nearby candle factory are certainly worth a visit.
The Magugastuwdam is also one not to forget.
Nature is breathtaking in Swaziland, a visit to Mbuluzi Game Reserve and Hlane National park is highly recommended.
